What you'll learn
Identify at least three indicators of ambivalence in a workplace conflict scenario and explain how ambivalence can serve as the engine for movement rather than a barrier to resolution.
Formulate and deliver at least two complex reflections that draw out competing values, attachment concerns, or underlying loss while maintaining an autonomy-supportive, non-directional stance.
Demonstrate the use of a layered or double-sided reflection in a practice exercise to facilitate self-endorsed resolution of ambivalence without persuading or steering toward a predetermined outcome.

Meet the speaker
Angela Dash, PhD
Georgia, USA
Dr. Angela Dash was drawn to Motivational Interviewing (MI) through her work as a professional coach, where she frequently supports clients navigating workplace issues and complex relational concerns. She quickly recognized how Motivational Interviewing provided a framework that aligned deeply with her coaching philosophy: partnership over persuasion, empowerment over intervention, and clarity that is self-endorsed rather than coach-driven. The more she practiced being MI-consistent, the more she experienced the grounding integration of its spirit and skills. She saw how MI’s way of being creates the conditions for clarity, emotional regulation, and meaningful transformation. Angela holds a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and graduate certificates in Trauma and Resilience and Executive and Professional Coaching. She is also a practicing coach and organizational ombudsperson and a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
